Over the weekend

I decided to make myself a Mother's Day corsage. I found an awesome tutorial online, put Brixton down for a nap and went for it! For my fabric I unpicked an old bag that I had made (that I didn't like any more) I used 3 different colors: white for the mum, stripes for the lily and green/pink for the leaves.
(add pinking shears)
Then using a hot coco mug traced the circles and cut them out. You need 6 of the stripes, 6 of the white and 4 of the green. Then you sew the stripes together leaving a little room to turn right side out, Same with the green. Leave the white until later.

Turn them right side out and fold the stripes in have and wrap around each other to look like a lily and hand stitch together. For the leaves I just fan folded them and stitched at the bottom. Stitch the lily and leaves together. Using pinking shears, cut around the white fabric, then fold one in 4th's and all the others in halfs and stitch together. Now stitch all layers together.

I stitched on a pin and hot glued felt to the back. Mess with it until you are happy. I'm still messing with mine but I wanted to share. If anyone would like to see the real pattern let me know and I'll try and find it for you! :)

And April

Now that we are in May, I'll finish what we did in April and then I'll be caught up. :) We celebrated Brixton's 2nd birthday at home in Mapleton. It was great, the weather wasn't great but the party was! We invited both sides of our families and rented the old building at Mapleton park. Brixton really liked it, there was lots of space to run around. We had balloons, bubbles, food, tie-dye and a pinata!! Ohh and of course presents! Brixton got tons of great presents!
Brixton was not sure why he had to hit the dinosaur.
Auntie Shelbi helping out at the tie-dye table! I hope every one's shirts turned out great!
Singing Happy Birthday! Little Cher was helping too.

Opening presents, as you can tell he had a lot of help.
(Cher, Lauren, Brenna, Jordyn, Haily, Hannah)

Brixton had a great 2nd birthday! He loved seeing everyone and eating all the candy he could find!!
We are so thankful for our families! Thank you for coming and supporting us! We love you so much!!

In March

I made Brixton's birthday shirt and then we took some glamour shots so I could have a invitation made.
Brixton even helped make his shirt.

We used the freezer paper method, it worked pretty good. I think I bought the wrong paints though. Oh well it still turned out cute!

Once the shirt dried for a couple hours we got to taking pictures. Brixton is just like his dad and HATES getting his picture taken.

I love this one but I went with the one of him pulling his "Monster face".

I then went on Etsy and had it turned into a birthday invitation! Super cute! The lady did a great job!

Also in February

Brixton and I went home the end of January beginning of February to visit and my brother C.j. volunteered to ride back with us. When we got to 29 Palms Colby had a surprise, we were going to Sea World and we were going to have to be in the car for another 2 hours! It was all worth it, Colby got a awesome hotel that had a loft! Yeah a loft. So C.j. took that and Colby, Brixton and I took the master bedroom. We called in Outback and picked it up and ate at our hotel. We felt really cool!!
Aren't they so goofy!
After getting into Sea World we got in line for the 1st thing...
Lunch!
That seemed like the longest line there! After our bellies were full we went to all the different Aquarium's and the animal shows they had.

C.j., Brixton and Colby even held a star fish!

The last thing on the list was the Shamu Show. Us along with everyone else at the Sea World headed there. It always makes me laugh when people sit in the splash zone and expect not to get wet! They got wet, very wet!
Shamu, Shamu!!

Shortly after this picture was taken Brixton was out! It had been a very long day but it was so fun!
Thanks for sharing it with us C.j.! Love you little bigger Brother!!

I am a SLACKER!

So I have been told by a few of my family members that I'm slacking on my blogging. Lol I have been! My last post was in January!?!? Opps! Well I'm on it now! I'll try to get everyone up to date on what happened over the last 3 months!

In February, Grandpa & Grandma Thompson came out along with Weston and Kylie. I think Kylie was excited to see where we lived but after being here for the weekend, I don't think she is going to make plans to come back anytime soon. hahah 29 Palms is not a very interesting place, kinda boring actually! But we did have fun while they were here. We went down to Palm Desert and went to the Living Desert Zoo! It was so much fun! Brixton loved be able to run around and see all the animals! We went to see the Butterfly and Humming Bird exhibit.

Which Brixton liked until a butterfly landed on him, then he wasn't so sure. We had a blast at the Zoo! Kylie and Weston even had fun, they got to ride a Camel!!!

I think Weston was having more fun then Kylie!
Brixton, Colby and I got to ride on the cheetah!!
It was a great weekend with the Thompson's! Can wait to do it again! Love you Grandpa and Grandma Thompson!!!

One of the many...

I have a few New Year's Goals that I would like to see carried out this year. I'm crossing my fingers!!
One of them for me is a big one...it has to do with sewing, lol.
The terms are for each sewing project that I do I HAVE to comeplete a scrapbook page. At first glance it doesn't seem that difficult but the last sewing project I did was the yoga skirt and the scrapbook page has yet to follow. I can't believe that I haven't just given up and done one of my many sewing projects out of my idea book! (lol yes I have an idea book)
I'm trying really hard to stick with it, Brixton's scrapbook has pictures but needs to be put together and Colby and I's, well it was done until I had an awesome idea to change the whole book. So had to start all over!!!
But I need to do it! I keep taking pictures so I just keep giving myself more pages. I have cleaned up the sewing room to make some space to bring the scrapbooking room out. (hahah it's a small room and it's also our spare bedroom)
So since the scrapbook page has yet to finish it's self, I'll be trying to motivate myself with week to finish one, so I can move onto a sewing project!!
Wish me luck!
I did 'pin' something together, which doesn't count as sewing but I wanted to know what people thought.
Ok be nice, I didn't have a girlie shirt to 'pin' this to. So one of Brix's shirts had to do. It's a little purple yarn ruffle. I got the idea when I was cleaning up the sewing room! :)

So on Wednesday I found out it was actually Thursday....

Colby, Brixton, Grimm and I made our way home on the 2nd. Well we only went half way and drove the rest of the way on the 3rd. It was nice to break it up a little but we really wanted to just be home and not have to deal with driving and such. We were lucky this year, we missed all the holiday traffic. We drove from Vegas to Primm without even slowing down. Last year it took us 2 hours with all the traffic, usually its a quick 35 minutes.

It was great to be home (yes we still call Utah our "home"). The part I was dreading the most was the unpacking and laundry and cleaning! I just had a pretty good 2 week vaca from all the stuff. Colby pulled the car as close as he could get it to the front door so we could just assembly line it into the house.
Which just turned into this...

Yes all of that stuff fit in our car. We even had to leave some home and I'm going to get the rest next week!! :) Most of it was Brixton's Christmas (only Grandbaby) he is a little spoiled right now. He doesn't have to share the lime light with anyone so he gets what he wants.

Once everything was put away and all the misc stuff was put in the sewing room we just lounged around. It's so nice
to just be at home, at our own home. It was so good to be home
I even lost track of time/date. I didn't know what day it was until I was talking to my mom and she said "Whitney it's Thursday not Wednesday." WHAT I just lost a whole day! Not cool.
Even though I lost a day of the week, I did happen to finish a sewing project.

I made a yoga skirt! yeah!! I'm pretty proud of it, it's very comfortable and it's from scrape fabric at JoAnn's. I think it was $2!
